How Do I Place a Hold?

In order to check out any items, first you have to make a hold on the item you want. Right now, there are three options for placing holds.

  1. Call the Library
  2. Use the Coastline Card Catalog website
  3. Fill out our Holds Form

To be clear, you DO NOT have to do all three of these things. You only need to do one to successfully place a hold. Your needs may make one option preferable to you, so we’ll explain each process below.

CALL THE LIBRARY

We are here and available Monday through Friday from 10 AM until 6 PM. We miss our patrons and love to hear from you, so feel free to call us if you want someone to walk through getting a hold placed with you.

USE THE CATALOG WEBSITE

Coastline Library Network is the site you can use to access the catalogs of every library in Coos or Curry County. Through it, you can search by title, author, subject, or item type to find what you want to check out.

Once you’ve found an item you’d like, click the “place hold” button. At that point, Coastline will ask for your login information.

The Coquille Public Library website will NEVER ask for your login information. However, in order to ensure to item is going to the correct person, you will need to log into your Coastline Account on their website.

Make sure your information is correct, that you have the right item and that it’s going to the library where you’d like to pick it up, and then you’re good to go! You’ll be redirected to your account, which will show you the items you currently have checked out as well as other holds you’ve placed.

HOLDS FORM

The Holds Form was developed specifically for our patrons who don’t have access to a phone, email, or the catalog website. If you or someone you know would like to check out items, but are unable to call, email, or use the website, this is the best option.

There is an envelop attached to the large dropbox on our porch. Inside that envelop are forms where you can fill out your name, library card number, and a list of the items you want to check out.

Critically, you must also fill out an advance appointment time AT LEAST three weeks from the day you turn in the form to the dropbox. Without email or phone we can no way of contacting you to let you know your item is here, so we have to schedule far in advance.

If you have access to a phone or email, this is not the best option because it takes so much longer for your item to become available to you.
